Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking an experienced Spanish Healthcare Interpreter to support the Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist location in Winston-Salem, NC. The role requires in-person, telephone, and video interpreting, plus basic translation across modalities.

Bilingual candidates are preferred if certified; 40-hour medical interpretation training is required within 1 year of hire. A high school diploma is required with a bachelor's degree preferred and at least 1 year of related healthcare

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 1 year related experience required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and prior experience in a healthcare setting is required.
• National medical interpreter certification preferred.
• Interpreter Language Assessment required.
• 40-hour Medical Interpretation Training within 1 year of hire required.

Responsibilities

• Proactively respond to requests for language access in a healthcare setting.
• Provide in-person, telephone, and video interpreting, and basic translation.
• Leverage technology to deliver services across modalities.
• Troubleshoot basic application issues as needed.
• Maintain relationships with internal customers and decide interpreter modality.
• Contribute to cost containment and leverage vendor relationships.
• Interpret patient information accurately, considering culture and language nuances.
• Translate basic written information as needed within department guidelines.
