PT 22.5 hrs 3pm-11pm

Provides accurate and culturally sensitive interpretation to patients, their families, and the healthcare team, collaborating throughout the hospital to deliver this service. Translates forms and documents and provides phone assistance to hospital staff as requested.

Job Responsibilities

1. Provides interpretation throughout the hospital as requested. Translates significant hospital consent forms, instructions, and other documents as needed.
2. Documents all interpretation services on the "Interpreter Assistance Form," which must be included in the patient's medical record.
3. Reports daily to management regarding incidents, problems, educational needs, or opportunities for improvement in the Special Needs Program.
4. Participates in department and hospital improvement activities, collaborating with leadership to enhance work systems and services provided to customers.
5. Performs related duties as required.

Job Qualifications

1. High school diploma or equivalent required.
2. Minimum of 75% on the Terminology Score and no more than 3 significant errors on the Interpreter Skills Test offered through LanguageLine Solutions.
3. Fluent in Spanish and English, with the ability to interpret and translate medical and anatomical terminology.
4. Knowledge of medical terminology, interpretation ethics, cultural issues, and populations with special needs.
