Job summary

KACE seeks Linguists to perform real-time and recorded transcription from Spanish to English for sensitive law enforcement work. You will capture accurate, court-ready written products and decode colloquialisms, slang, and coded language.

Transcriptions may involve multiple storage formats and require attention to detail, speed, and clear documentation. This role involves travel to client sites and a part-time, on-site schedule with variable shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year translation experience in Spanish.
• Knowledge of Spanish Caribbean dialects and slang.
• Familiarity with SMS shorthand and web chat terminology.
• Proficient in English and Spanish language assessments.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office.
• Typing speed of 45 words per minute.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Listen to live or recorded Spanish communications and produce transcriptions.
• Provide verbal and written summaries to law enforcement personnel.
• Build and maintain a master slang terms list for the project.
• Maintain a voice library for the project duration.
• Transcribe and translate calls and documents as assigned.
• Produce court-ready transcriptions in required format.
• Use project tools to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Transcribe a minimum of 16 minutes of conversation per 8-hour day.
• Operate government-provided software and equipment at the site.
• Maintain a daily productivity log and perform related duties.
