Job summary

Stoke Space in Kent, WA is seeking a Flight Safety Analyst for the Nova program to own simulation modeling demonstrating safe launch, reentry, and landing. You will model failure modes, debris propagation, and casualty estimates while protecting public and range safety.

You will collaborate with Design Reliability and System Safety, and communicate results to FAA, Space Force, customers, and Stoke leadership in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace engineering or similar field.
  • 5+ years in an engineering role on a high-performance product.
  • Strong fundamentals in flight dynamics and statistics.
  • Know-how of orbital mechanics and trajectory design.
  • Experience with simulation and modeling of physical systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to lead and follow.

Responsibilities

  • Develop models for vehicle failure modes and integrate with the Nova GNC simulation.
  • Perform Monte Carlo simulations to estimate trajectory probabilities.
  • Model debris from breakup scenarios and ground impact.
  • Estimate casualties using debris spread and population data.
  • Collaborate with Reliability and System Safety to bound risk.
  • Present results to FAA, Space Force, customers, and Stoke leadership.
