Job summary

AST SpaceMobile is seeking a Mechanisms Flight Engineer to verify and support deployment and actuation systems for spacecraft. You will own command/telemetry paths, motor drive performance, sensor feedback, and end‑to‑end mechanism functionality prior to flight.

The role focuses on flat sat mechanisms like HDRMs, drive assemblies, and gimbaled systems, coordinating with Avionics, Software, and Test teams to validate procedures and timelines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, or aerospace engineering.
• 3+ years in spacecraft integration, test, or flight hardware operations.
• Experience with electronics bring‑up and mechanism control.
• Ability to read schematics, ICDs, and wiring diagrams.
• Experience developing automated test procedures (Python).

Responsibilities

• Build, configure, and maintain mechanism drive/control representation on flat sat.
• Perform bring-up, functional checkout, troubleshooting of drive electronics and control paths.
• Develop/maintain automated/manual procedures for mechanism functional verification.
• Create and use scripting/test automation tools for verification coverage.
• Execute flight operations procedures for deployments/actuation events.
