Job summary

Lanteris Space Systems in Palo Alto, CA, is seeking a Thermal Analyst to join our Thermal Engineering team and help develop spacecraft thermal solutions for all phases of the lifecycle: proposal, design, assembly, ground testing, launch, and on-orbit operations.

You will work with propulsion, power, avionics, attitude control, structures, RF, and orbital dynamics teams to create robust thermal models and support testing campaigns.

Qualifications

• U.S. citizen or permanent resident required.
• BS in mechanical/aerospace engineering or related discipline; four additional years may substitute for a degree.
• 2 years of relevant experience; a master's degree may account for two years of experience.
• Ability to accommodate day, swing and/or grave shifts during TVAC testing campaigns (approx. 2–3 times per year, ~30 days each).

Responsibilities

• Develop and refine finite difference/element thermal models of entire spacecraft and assemblies using Thermal Desktop.
• Correlate thermal models with ground test and on-orbit data.
• Prepare technical reports and present results to small groups.
• Support and conduct thermal vacuum testing at spacecraft level and assembly level.
• Define requirements for flight and ground test thermal hardware (heaters, sensors, heat pipes, insulation).
• Perform back-of-the-envelope calculations to sanity-check complex models.
• Assist senior engineers in design trades and requirements interpretation.
• Manage analysis uncertainty and parameter sensitivity studies.
