Job summary

Quantum Space in Rockville, MD seeks a Reliability Engineer to ensure mission assurance for next-generation spacecraft. You will perform reliability analyses, influence design, support testing, and drive processes across the product lifecycle.

The role requires hands-on FMEA/FMECA, FTA, RBD, and reliability predictions; knowledge of NASA MIL standards; U.S. person per ITAR; and collaboration with design and systems teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelors in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems Engineering, or related field.
• Approximately 5+ years in reliability, mission assurance, or flight hardware; seniors 8–10+ years.
• Hands-on experience with FMEA/FMECA, FTA, RBD, and reliability predictions.
• Knowledge of NASA-STD-8729.1, MIL-STD-882, and EEE-INST-002.
• Experience applying reliability principles to aerospace/high-reliability systems.
• Strong technical writing and analytical skills; ability to assess risk and mitigate.
• Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams; US Person per ITAR/EAR.

Responsibilities

• Perform FMEA/FMECA at part, assembly, and system levels and maintain the CIL.
• Develop FTA, RBD, and reliability predictions to support design trades.
• Apply physics-of-failure methodologies, Weibull analysis, accelerated life testing, and PRA.
• Support EEE parts reliability through derating, parts stress analysis, and radiation screening.
• Monitor GIDEP alerts and supplier advisories, tracking limited-life components.
• Partner with design and systems teams to integrate reliability requirements early.
• Provide actionable reliability analyses to influence redundancy and margins.
• Support environmental qualification, life testing, and verification activities.
• Tailor reliability activities to mission risk classifications and safety standards.
