Job summary

Quantum Space is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to own flight hardware development on our Spacecraft Programs. You will take a subsystem from requirements to a released design, through build, integration, and test, while collaborating with AIT and manufacturing.

Senior-level expectations include independent ownership of deliverables and leadership of technical execution for meaningful scopes. The role is based in the DMV area with competitive compensation and equity opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 7+ years of aerospace/space hardware development experience.
• Proficiency in Creo; working knowledge of Windchill or similar PLM.
• Strong GD&T fundamentals (ASME Y14.5) and drawing quality discipline.
• Experience moving hardware through build/test cycles, not just design.
• Work location within the DMV area.

Responsibilities

• Own flight hardware development from requirements to released design.
• Lead technical execution for meaningful scopes.
• Develop CAD/drawings and define inspectable requirements.
• Coordinate with AIT, manufacturing, and suppliers.
• Support verification plans and test readiness reviews.
• Assist in PDR/CDR and configuration boards.
