Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Spacecraft Propulsion Systems Engineer I to own propulsion system development for space systems. You will work on propulsion components, perform design and analysis, and collaborate with civil, commercial, and defense customers.

The role requires a bachelor’s in engineering, propulsion experience, US citizenship, and ability to obtain a security clearance. NX CAD experience and Teamcenter/PLM familiarity are desired; candidates should be ready to mentor

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering is required.
Experience in propulsion system development or other high-performance field.
US citizenship is required due to program requirements.
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

Own development of new or existing propulsion products or systems as technical lead.
Design propulsion components in CAD and perform performance calculations.
Review drawings, PMI, reports and specifications for accuracy.
Plan tests, set up instrumentation, run tests and analyze data.
Communicate with internal and external stakeholders clearly.
Make risk-based engineering decisions to select optimal solutions.
Mentor and coach team members and document best practices.
