Job summary

Rocket Lab is seeking a Senior Spacecraft Propulsion Components Engineer I to join our Long Beach, CA team. You will own propulsion system development from concept through release, leading the end-to-end process for critical spacecraft components.

Applicants should have 5+ years in propulsion, a technical engineering degree, and hands-on experience with NX CAD and PLM tools. US citizenship and security clearance willingness are required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in propulsion development or equivalent high-performance field.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (aerospace, mechanical, mechatronics).
• Experience with NX CAD and PLM tools like Teamcenter/Windchill.
• Track record of design reviews and flight hardware release.
• Experience with end-to-end development and qualification testing.

Responsibilities

• Own development of propulsion products and act as technical lead.
• Create CAD designs and perform performance analyses.
• Review drawings, PMI, reports, and specifications.
• Plan and execute tests with instrumentation and data analysis.
• Communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
• Make risk-based technical decisions.
• Manage project schedules and team tasks.
• Mentor teammates on technical and professional growth.
• Maintain standards through documentation and training.
• Contribute to Rocket Lab engineering processes.
