Job summary

Rocket Lab in Long Beach, CA seeks a Spacecraft Propulsion Systems Engineer I to own propulsion design and development within the Space Systems division. You will lead component-level work, perform CAD design, run analyses, and coordinate with stakeholders to deliver flight hardware.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in engineering, propulsion experience, US citizenship, and ability to obtain a security clearance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
  • Experience in propulsion system development or other high-performance field.
  • US citizenship is required, due to program requirements.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Own development of propulsion system components and end-to-end development.
  • CAD designs and performance calculations for propulsion parts.
  • Review and approve drawings, reports, and specifications.
  • Plan tests, setup instrumentation, analyze data and report results.
  • Communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Exercise technical risk-based decision making for optimal solutions.
  • Participate in project management and scheduling activities.
  • Mentor team members and contribute to professional growth.
  • Define and maintain standards of excellence within the team.
  • Contribute to engine systems processes and documentation.
