Job summary

BlackSky is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to design and own power subsystem work for small satellite constellations. You will derive system requirements, develop power budgets and simulations, and collaborate across teams to meet mission needs.

You will be part of the Electrical Engineering group, reviewing designs, supporting tests, and engaging with suppliers through the product lifecycle in a hybrid Tukwila, WA setting.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering or embedded systems required.
• 6+ years in digital and/or analog embedded hardware.
• Experience designing spacecraft power systems from contract requirements and CONOPS.
• Proficiency with schematic capture and layout, and external EMS vendors.
• US Person required.

Responsibilities

• Be the SME for electrical subsystem design for smallsat spacecraft.
• Champion all phases of electrical subsystem development: design, integration, test, operations, maintenance.
• Develop and maintain Power Budgets, System EICDs, and Power Simulations.
• Support design reviews to ensure requirements and interface compliance.
• Work with mission architects, systems engineers, and program managers to derive requirements.
• Create and review system-level electrical design documents (flight harnesses, diagrams, grounding).
• Collaborate with external electronics providers to review designs and resolve issues.
• Develop test plans with integration testers to ensure adequate system testing.
• Provide SME support for production issues and design updates of space electronics units.
