Job summary

Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems Sector is seeking Spacecraft Payload Engineers (Level 3/4) to join our team in Gilbert, AZ or Dulles, VA. You will manage technical interfaces for hosted payloads, develop ICDs, and support design, test, and on-orbit operations of space vehicles.

Role requires strong systems engineering background, leadership, and the ability to mentor junior staff. Active Top Secret clearance is required or ability to obtain TS/SCI. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 5 years of engineering experience
• Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline and 8 years of engineering experience
• Masters degree in a STEM discipline and 3/6 years of engineering experience
• PhD in a STEM discipline and 1–4 years of engineering experience

Responsibilities

• Leverage your technical and leadership skills to help bring payload and platform interfaces together to meet requirements
• Develop payload specific Interface control documents for mechanical, electrical, and functional interfaces
• Identify and mitigate payload-related technical issues and risks
• Support major program milestones and readiness reviews
• Collaborate with customers to develop operational mission scenarios and payload concepts of operations
• Plan, design, and execute testing strategies to exercise payload functionality and verify performance
• Provide on-floor support of integration, testing, and operational readiness of spacecraft and payloads
• Support Launch and On-orbit operations campaigns at launch sites and Mission Operations Centers
• Mentor and guide junior staff
