Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems Sector is seeking Spacecraft Payload Engineers (Level 3/4) to join our team in Gilbert, AZ or Dulles, VA. You will manage technical interfaces for hosted payloads, develop ICDs, and support design, test, and on-orbit operations of space vehicles.
Role requires strong systems engineering background, leadership, and the ability to mentor junior staff. Active Top Secret clearance is required or ability to obtain TS/SCI. Travel up to 10% may be required.

Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems Sector is seeking a Systems Engineer - Level 3 and Level 4 to join our team in either Gilbert, Arizona or Dulles, VA.
Spacecraft Payload Engineers are key members of a cross-disciplinary team helping drive the design, development, integration & test, launch, and on-orbit operations of space vehicles. As a Spacecraft Payload Engineer, you will have unique opportunities to witness and take part in the entire engineering lifecycle culminating in the on-orbit delivery of fully mission capable space vehicles to our customers! This Systems Engineer Level 3 and Level 4 position are for an individual contributor within a multi-disciplinary engineering team. The specific responsibilities of this position will be to manage the technical and functional interfaces of one or more hosted payload(s) to a spacecraft bus. Work products include the development of payload port-specific interface control documents (ICDs), managing giver-receiver materials, review and approval of bus accommodation documents, development of functional and performance test scripts, and identification of mechanical, electrical, and environmental constraints and requirements. Analysis roles include supporting science, experiment, and mission planning for the payload and evaluating mission performance and orbital operations.
Primary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00
Secondary Level Salary Range: $122,800.00 - $184,200.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
