Job summary

Peraton's Space Systems team at the White Sands Complex in Las Cruces, NM, seeks a Spacecraft Engineer to monitor TDRS health and performance, support mission planning, and guide spacecraft operations. You will develop procedures and coordinate with Satellite Controllers as a Test Conductor, with occasional night/weekend requirements.

Requirements include US citizenship and the ability to obtain a DoD Secret clearance, plus hands-on spacecraft operations experience and familiarity with STK,

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical or related field.
  • At least 2 years in spacecraft operations.
  • US citizenship and ability to obtain DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily monitoring and trending of TDRS spacecraft state-of-health data.
  • Plan missions including station-keeping, maneuvers and decommissioning events.
  • Develop and validate procedures for operations personnel.
  • Lead spacecraft operations as Test Conductor and provide guidance to Satellite Controllers.
  • Analyze spacecraft anomalies and plan anomaly recovery actions.
  • Investigate and resolve spacecraft discrepancy reports.
  • Provide on-the-job training to peers.
  • Occasional night/weekend work for irregular activities, launch support or anomaly recoveries.
  • Perform short-term ephemeris propagation and produce predictive reports for operations.
  • Perform long-term ephemeris propagation using STK to ensure orbital characteristics.
  • Familiarize with configuring flight simulation software/hardware for training and procedures.
