Job summary

Blue Origin seeks an experienced Spacecraft Controller/Operations Engineer to support real-time operations, mission planning, and ground-system automation from its Denver, CO or Reston, VA facilities. The role requires collaboration across disciplines to deliver robust procedures, telemetry displays, and software tools for efficient missions.

Key duties include testing with simulators, anomaly resolution, mission readiness, and on-console launch support.

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Aerospace, Computer Science, Electrical, Systems, or related fields.
  • 3+ years of proven experience in spacecraft operations development and execution, including real-time support for on-orbit operations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
  • Spacecraft operations product development and execution.
  • Real-time support for on-orbit operations.
  • Hosted or separable payload operations.
  • Mission planning, timeline development, and analysis.
  • Spacecraft telemetry trending and analysis.
  • Ground system and software architecture.
  • Space-to-ground communications.
  • Operations automation and application of AI/ML to ops workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to mission planning, operations concepts, tools, and processes for real-time ops.
  • Develop procedures, executables, telemetry displays, and documentation.
  • Improve efficiency and reliability via ground system automation and AI/ML.
  • Ensure deliverables meet quality standards and are reusable.
  • Test and validate ops products using hardware/software simulations.
  • Support systems engineering to define spacecraft operations concepts.
  • Create detailed test procedures for end-to-end system capabilities.
  • Analyze ground station selection for optimal communications.
  • Coordinate spectrum licensing with authorities.
  • Support mission readiness activities and rehearsals.
  • Provide on-console support during launch and early orbit.
  • Monitor state-of-health and perform trending across subsystems.
  • Assist anomaly resolution as part of an anomaly response team.
  • Contribute lessons-learned for future missions.
