Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering from an accredited university.
• 10+ years of relevant mechanical or aerospace engineering experience.
• Experience with mechanical systems, mechanisms, and flight hardware.
• Strong fundamentals in loads, kinematics, interfaces, tolerances and design practices.
• Experience evaluating designs, analyses, drawings, CAD models, and test results.
• Experience developing or manipulating mechanical models in Siemens NX or SolidWorks.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical insight and assessment of spacecraft mechanical systems and flight hardware.
• Evaluate designs, analyses, test approaches, manufacturing considerations, and operational concepts.
• Provide oversight across design, analysis, testing, manufacturing, integration and operation.
• Assess mechanisms such as hinges, latches, deployment systems, actuators, doors, and interfaces.
• Evaluate performance: kinematics, loads, tolerances, margins, reliability, and failure modes.
• Plan independent engineering assessments of complex systems for risk and refinement.
• Review analyses, test plans, drawings, CAD models, and interface definitions for adequacy.
• Perform CAD-based assessments, fit checks, envelope evaluations, and interface analyses.
• Export CAD models and STP files for structural, thermal, and other analyses.
• Support stress and structural assessments with model input preparation.
• Communicate findings and recommendations clearly to NASA customers and teams.
