Job summary

K2 Space in Los Angeles is seeking a Mechanisms Engineer to help scale manufacturing of high-power satellite mechanisms. You will design and refine build flows, fixturing, and tooling, ensuring manufacturability from prototype to production across complex electromechanical assemblies.

In the role you will implement DFX, develop production processes, partner with other engineers, and help transition technology to high-rate production while upholding aerospace standards and safety requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, aerospace, or a related engineering field.
  • Minimum 3+ years in high-volume production, manufacturing, integration, or design engineering.
  • Experience with NASA-STD-5017 and AIAA S-114; familiarity with SMC-S-016 and GSFC-7000 is preferred.
  • Experience providing DFX guidance across mechanisms and components.

Responsibilities

  • Provide DFX guidance to design teams on initial designs and flight hardware.
  • Develop innovative manufacturing systems for large spacecraft mechanisms.
  • Create custom tools and MES software to support manufacturing tech.
  • Demonstrate advanced manufacturing techniques on prototypes and improve manufacturability.
  • Develop subassembly build flow and optimize production for the satellite.
  • Collaborate with advanced manufacturing engineers on R&D of new tech.
  • Build test articles and support qualification campaigns.
