Job summary

Amazon Leo is building a space-based network to deliver fast internet connectivity. As a Mechanical Engineer on the Avionics Mechanical team, you will design and develop the mechanical implementation of spacecraft electrical systems from architecture through flight hardware.

This role requires strong mechanical fundamentals and the ability to work across disciplines to deliver reliable flight hardware that withstands launch, vibration, and radiation.

Qualifications

• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams.
• 2+ years of working in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
• Experience with CAD tools and engineering documentation.
• Understanding of mechanical design fundamentals, materials, manufacturing processes, and tolerance analysis.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop spacecraft avionics hardware from concept through production.
• Partner with Electrical Engineering to integrate circuit boards, connectors, harnesses, and electronic assemblies into robust mechanical designs.
• Perform engineering analyses and trade studies to support design decisions.
• Develop hardware that withstands launch, vibration, thermal cycling, radiation, and the space environment.
• Support qualification testing, manufacturing, and hardware troubleshooting.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to identify and retire technical risk.
• Investigate failures and implement design improvements throughout the product lifecycle.
• Contribute to engineering best practices and continuous improvement efforts.
