Job summary

Amazon is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Engineer, Electronics Packaging, Avionics Mechanical, in Redmond, WA.

You will own mechanical implementations for spacecraft electrical systems and collaborate across mechanical, electrical, thermal, and manufacturing teams to deliver robust flight hardware for Amazon Leo’s satellite program. You will mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and drive reliability and manufacturability throughout the lifecycle of avionics packaging.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent.
• 5+ years hardware design and validation experience.
• Experience taking concepts through deployment or mass production.
• Cross-functional collaboration with Electrical, Manufacturing, and Systems teams.
• Proficient CAD use and engineering documentation.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical design and development of spacecraft avionics hardware from concept to flight.
• Develop robust packaging architectures for boards, connectors, and assemblies.
• Perform trade studies balancing performance, reliability, cost, and schedule.
• Design qualification hardware, production fixtures, and test equipment.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to retire technical risk early via analysis and testing.
• Lead root cause investigations and mentor junior engineers.
