Job summary

Amazon Leo is seeking a Software Development Manager to lead a team building embedded flight software for satellites. You will own avionics endpoint firmware, work with hardware and software peers, and drive the fault detection/injection/isolation framework across the spacecraft, shaping strategy and the team as the program grows.

You will hire, mentor, and guide engineers, define the technical roadmap, and ensure delivery milestones while investing in long-term architectural excellence.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of engineering team management experience.
• 1+ years of providing technical leadership and project management for all aspects of the software development lifecycle experience.
• 5+ years of Software Engineer, Software Developer, or related occupational experience.
• Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead, hire, and develop a team of software engineers building mission-critical flight software for satellites, providing regular coaching and career development.
• Define the technical direction and product roadmap for avionics endpoint firmware.
• Own the design and execution of a satellite-wide fault detection, injection, and isolation framework, coordinating with hardware and other software teams.
• Drive program management practices to keep cross-functional efforts on track and communicate status to leadership.
• Evaluate and integrate AI and automation tools to improve development workflows and testing coverage.
