Job summary

Moog Inc. in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to own the mechanical elements of spacecraft avionics, from hardware design to packaging, structural and thermal analysis, and environmental testing.

You will work with SolidWorks and Moog tools, gaining on-the-job training and contributing to mission readiness. Ideal candidates have 2+ years in mechanical design, proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks preferred), and experience with FE analysis.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in mechanical engineering with design/structural focus.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
• Experience designing mechanical parts and assemblies.
• Experience with closed-form or finite element analysis.
• Strong verbal and written communication.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop spacecraft avionics assemblies using SolidWorks and produce drawings per ASME Y14.5.
• Perform structural and thermal analysis using ANSYS Workbench.
• Document design reviews and analysis reports.
• Develop environmental test plans for vibration, shock and thermal testing.
• Support manufacturing: resolve assembly issues and nonconformances.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with systems, electrical, manufacturing, and program management.
