Job summary

EVONA is seeking an experienced System Engineer in California to lead the systems engineering lifecycle for spaceborne radar payloads. You will define architecture, manage requirements, and drive verification from concept through flight readiness.

Collaborate with RF, digital, mechanical, software, and program teams to ensure payloads meet mission goals while balancing performance, reliability, manufacturability, and schedule.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in systems engineering for space/aerospace programs.
• Experience as System Architect or technical lead on complex projects.
• Proven track record in requirements decomposition and verification closure.
• Experience performing FMEA and reliability analyses for flight hardware.
• Knowledge of radar or RF systems is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the payload system architecture with interfaces.
• Decompose requirements into subsystem specifications with traceability.
• Lead FMEA and reliability analyses and mitigation planning.
• Design FDIR strategies and anomaly response concepts.
• Manage system budgets for mass, power, thermal, data rate, and comms.
• Own V&V strategy mapping requirements to tests and analyses.
• Develop ConOps including orbit ops and ground segment interfaces.
• Define ICDs between payload subsystems and spacecraft interfaces.
• Collaborate with embedded flight software architecture and telemetry.
• Translate product roadmaps into system-level requirements and architecture decisions.
• Support formal reviews (SRR, PDR, CDR, TRR, MRR, FRR) with docs.
• Conduct system trade studies and budget analyses for design decisions.
