Job summary

EVONA in Seattle is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the full lifecycle of a spaceborne radar payload’s hardware, from requirements to qualification. The role is hands-on, requiring expertise in mechanical and thermal design, 3D CAD, and production-ready drawings for harsh space environments.

You will own mechanical and electro-mechanical hardware, collaborate with RF, electrical, and thermal teams, and mentor junior engineers while delivering on schedule and performance targets.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required.
• 6+ years of mechanical and thermal design experience.
• Experience with electronics packaging and PCB mechanical design.
• Experience in aerospace or defense environments.
• Knowledge of GD&T and engineering drawings.
• Willingness to work on-site in Seattle, WA and travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

• Own mechanical hardware from requirements through design, fabrication, test and qualification.
• Develop rugged PCB assemblies, avionics enclosures, RF hardware and power-system packaging.
• Perform bolted-joint, modal/vibration, thermal and tolerance analysis.
• Create organized, production-ready 3D CAD models and drawings per ASME Y14.5-2018.
• Support payload development and spacecraft integration with cross-functional teams.
• Mentor junior engineers and drive hardware projects to completion.
