Job summary

EVONA is seeking a Director – Radar Payloads in Redmond, WA to own end-to-end development of spaceborne electronically-steered radar payloads. You will lead a multidisciplinary team across RF/microwave, antennas, FPGA, firmware/software, power, mechanical/thermal, and systems, ensuring performance, cost, schedule, and risk decisions align with program goals.

You will build the team and the hardware program, guiding reviews, trades, and supplier engagement while delivering mission-critical

Qualifications

• Ten-plus years in RF, radar, or space payload hardware, including flight or mission-critical systems.
• Six-plus years in engineering leadership managing multidisciplinary teams.
• Deep expertise in radar system architecture, RF/microwave, phased-array, timing and power electronics.
• Strong system-level understanding of embedded firmware/software, signal/power integrity, and spacecraft interfaces.
• Excellent cross-functional communication and collaboration across engineering functions.

Responsibilities

• Own radar payload architecture and baseline across RF front-ends, digital processing, timing, power, and control electronics.
• Lead full payload lifecycle from requirements to on-orbit checkout and acceptance.
• Recruit, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary payload team with a culture of accountability.
• Collaborate with Systems Engineering, radar algorithms, software/firmware, and spacecraft teams to meet mission performance.
• Own payload V&V, calibration, and flight-readiness strategies, including RF/beam performance and environmental qualification.
• Oversee integrated plans, budgets, schedules, milestones, risks, and recovery actions with PMO to meet commitments.
