Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an engineer to perform thermal and fluids analyses for spaceflight systems, supporting design from concept through flight. The role emphasizes defining hardware requirements, conducting trade studies, and presenting results to stakeholders within the Lunar Permanence unit.

The ideal candidate has a BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, 4+ years in space fluids/propulsion analysis, and strong MATLAB skills, with experience in Thermal Desktop/SINDA/FLUINT. U.S.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering required.
  • 4+ years of direct experience in space applications fluids & propulsion analysis.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB required.
  • Knowledge of thermal and fluid mechanics of cryogenics, hypergolics and compressibles in space.
  • Experience with Thermal Desktop/SINDA/FLUINT.
  • Experience running propulsion system trade studies.
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct 1D-3D thermal and fluids analysis to define performance and operations.
  • Define hardware requirements and resolve technical challenges.
  • Take ownership or support analysis tasks for complex fluid systems.
  • Contribute to product life cycle from concept to flight.
  • Derive component requirements, system test requirements, and system sizing.
  • Document and maintain analysis inputs, models and present results to stakeholders.
