Job summary

Amentum is seeking a Mechanical Systems Technician II for the JETSII Contract at our Houston facility. The role involves building, calibrating, and maintaining laboratory hardware, interpreting drawings, and supporting engineering teams in the setup and test of complex systems.

The position is a union-based, on-site role requiring PPE and safe work practices, with responsibilities including assembly, testing, and preventive maintenance across cryogenic, vacuum, and high-pressure subsystems.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent and 4+ years of related experience.
• Demonstrated ability to train on and certify in primary duty stations.
• Proficient knowledge of mechanical equipment and systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop, fabricate, calibrate, and maintain laboratory fixtures and equipment.
• Interpret engineering drawings and work instructions to complete assignments.
• Operate and test complex mechanical systems including pressure, vacuum, cryogenic, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment.
• Assist in test procedures, setup, and data collection.
• Ensure safe operation and adherence to PPE requirements.
