Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation is seeking an experienced Engineering Specialist- Aeronautical and Aerospace Structural Engineering in Chantilly, VA. You will perform structural dynamics analyses for launch vehicles and spacecraft, develop simulation tools, and lead analysis projects across teams.

Strong background in FE methods, vibration theory, and leadership is required; TS/SCI eligibility and ~5% travel may be needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Structural, or Aerospace Engineering or similar field.
• 6 years applicable professional or educational experience
• Experience with finite-element model development techniques and software
• Knowledge of classical vibration and transient response analysis theory
• Sound knowledge of Linear Algebra and its applications in structural dynamics
• Willingness to travel ~5% and to obtain TS/SCI clearance

Responsibilities

• Perform structural dynamic analyses and evaluations of launch vehicle and spacecraft loads for all flight phases
• Develop simulation tools and processes to solve structural dynamics problems
• Assemble coupled system models across multiple launch and space vehicles
• Evaluate predictions versus flight sensor data and improve loads methods
• Plan and oversee mode survey testing and data correlation to FE models
• Conduct analyses addressing complex structural dynamics problems across disciplines
• Provide technical support to program offices and customers in structural dynamics
• Mentor peers and junior team members
