The Aerospace Corporation seeks a Structural Systems Engineer (Sr. Member of Technical Staff/Engineering Specialist) with a strong solid mechanics background to support vehicle and space structure analyses.

This full-time role requires on-site work at least four days per week, in El Segundo, CA or Chantilly, VA. Responsibilities include developing test criteria, assessing design requirements, and contributing to test programs for launch structures, while maintaining advanced skills in finite

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
• 5+ years of professional or academic experience in structural engineering.
• Experience performing finite element analyses.
• Experience in structural mechanics (nonlinear materials, plates and shells, fatigue).
• US citizenship and ability to obtain Secret clearance (US government).

Responsibilities

• Space vehicle pressurized and propulsion systems analysis.
• Provide technical consultation on test plans, procedures, objectives, and success criteria.
• Develop and assess design/analysis criteria for launch/space structures.
• Participate in test program development and execution for launch/space structures.
• Improve agility of the mission assurance process for structural integrity and survivability.
• Communicate with stakeholders to scope, plan, and resolve issues.
• Coordinate with contractor experts to address concerns.
• Work in interdisciplinary teams to address cross-disciplinary issues.
