Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation seeks a Structural Dynamics Engineer (Engineering Specialist/Sr. Engineering Specialist) to perform structural dynamics analyses for launch vehicles and spacecraft, and to develop and refine simulation tools and processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Structural, or Aerospace Engineering or similar field.
• 6 years experience in structural dynamics or similar field.
• Experience with finite-element model development techniques and software.
• Knowledge of classical vibration and transient response analysis theory.
• Sound knowledge of Linear Algebra and its application in structural dynamic computations.
• Prior experience with leading teams or performing project management roles.
• Willingness to travel ~5% and to support off-business hours as needed.
• Ability to obtain TS/SCI clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural dynamic analyses and evaluations of launch vehicle and spacecraft loads for all flight phases.
• Develop simulation tools and processes to solve structural dynamics problems.
• Evaluate analytical predictions versus flight sensor data to improve loads analysis methods.
• Plan and oversee mode survey testing for various components, including data quality verification and FE model correlation.
• Conduct analyses to solve a broad range of structural dynamics problems across disciplines.
• Provide technical support to program offices and external customers.
