Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking Summer 2027 mechanical interns to design and build space structures and thermal systems for satellite communication systems. Interns will work closely with CesiumAstro engineers on product development, design, test, and manufacturing of structures and thermal systems.

Assignments will focus on conduction-cooled packaging, deployable structures and mechanisms, and lightweight composite space structures.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in BS/MS/PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
• GPA 3.5 or higher
• Upper-level coursework in structures and heat transfer
• Experience with mechanical FEA tools (SolidWorks Sim or ANSYS)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Work with engineers on design, test, and manufacturing of space-structures and thermal systems
• Focus on conduction-cooled packaging, deployable structures, and lightweight space structures
• Assignments depend on project availability and candidate interests
• Interns present their work to peers, mentors, and CesiumAstro leadership
