Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Summer 2027 intern to design and build electronics hardware for satellite communication systems. Interns will work with design engineers on full-stack hardware development from concept to test, and be responsible for their own schematics and layouts while supporting analysis and hands-on lab work.

Ideal candidates are electrical engineering students with hands-on lab experience and strong EE fundamentals, including experience with schematic capture, PCB layout,

Qualifications

• Enrolled in BS/MS/PhD in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
• GPA 3.5 or higher.
• Strong fundamentals in EE topics.
• Experience designing/building electronics hardware for projects, competitions, or internships.
• Experience with schematic capture, PCB layout, bring-up, and debugging.
• Hands-on lab instrument experience (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, electronic loads, signal generators).
• Excellent written and verbal communication; expected to present work to peers, mentors, and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Work side-by-side with design engineers on space electronics projects.
• Own schematics and layouts and support analysis and lab work.
• Contribute to hands-on lab testing and debugging during the internship.
• Participate in project assignments determined by availability and interests.
• Provide a brief cover letter describing interest in electronics hardware design and this role.
