Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking Summer 2027 interns in mechanical engineering to design and build space structures and thermal systems for satellite communication systems. Interns will work closely with engineers on product development, testing, and manufacturing within a dynamic, cross-functional team.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required. Qualifications include enrollment in BS/MS/PhD in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, GPA ≥3.5, coursework in structures and heat transfer,

Qualifications

• Enrollment in BS/MS/PhD in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
• GPA of 3.5 or higher.
• Upper-level coursework in structures and heat transfer.
• Experience with mechanical FEA tools (SolidWorks Simulation or ANSYS).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and build space structures and thermal systems for satellite communication systems.
• Collaborate with engineers on product development, testing, and manufacturing.
• Focus on conduction-cooled packaging, deployable structures, and lightweight space structures.
• Regularly present work to peers, mentors, and leadership.
