Job summary

Vast, based in Long Beach, CA, is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer, Mechanical Subassemblies, to drive the development and execution of human-rated vehicle processes as Haven-1 transitions to flight readiness. This full-time exempt role will support manufacturability, process optimization, and detailed assembly procedures for subassemblies.

The ideal candidate has a technical degree and hands-on fabrication experience, with CAD proficiency (NX preferred) and 2–6+ years in manufacturing

Qualifications

• B.S. in mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing or electrical engineering, physics, mathematics, or a related technical field.
• Manufacturing experience managing a product/product line across multiple work centers and/or departments, fluid, pressurized, propulsion, or environmental control hardware in design, manufacturing, or test.
• 2-4+ years of experience for Manufacturing Engineer II; 4-6+ years of experience for Senior Manufacturing Engineer.
• Hands-on fabrication, assembly, and/or integration experience; CAD proficiency (NX preferred).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with design teams to provide input on the manufacturability of various types of subassemblies.
• Develop and optimize manufacturing processes and onboard equipment for manufacturing subassemblies, considering factors such as efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
• Create and maintain detailed manufacturing plans, assembly procedures, and work instructions to ensure consistent and accurate production of hardware.
• Identify and resolve manufacturing challenges by conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
• Collaborate with quality assurance teams to establish and maintain rigorous quality control processes.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, identifying opportunities to enhance manufacturing efficiency, reduce waste, and improve overall product quality.
