Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Radiation Effects Systems Engineer – Levels 2/3 in Redondo Beach, CA to design, test and optimize radiation-hardened electronics for space and defense applications. You will lead hardware and software test activities, coordinate with national facilities and mentor junior engineers while supporting high-stakes programs.

Ideal candidates hold a STEM degree with substantial engineering experience and are prepared to obtain clearances; U.S. citizenship is required.

Qualifications

• Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain/maintain a Secret clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in STEM with experience or Master’s with experience; PhD with 1+ year acceptable.
• Experience in radiation effects testing or related hardware/software activities is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Research, design, develop and test electronic components for space/defense.
• Develop test procedures and ensure compliance with MIL/ASTM standards.
• Perform hardware development: PCB design, soldering, board population, cabling.
• Develop software test scripts for automated routines and equipment.
• Create custom test beds using standard electrical test equipment.
• Lead test campaigns, coordinate with facilities nationwide, manage schedules.
• Mentor junior engineers in radiation effects test engineering.
