Job summary

Leidos Defense Space is seeking a Specialty Systems Engineer to join a Systems Engineering Integration and Test team developing space sensor payloads. You will apply risk analysis, reliability, radiation, and cybersecurity disciplines, using MBSE in Cameo Systems Modeler to create traceable model-based artifacts.

The role requires collaboration with SMEs, cross‑functional teams, and a capability to translate analyses into system requirements and design decisions.

Qualifications

• BS degree and 4+ years of relevant experience, or Masters with 2+ years of relevant experience.
• Must be a US Citizen.
• Must have an active Secret Clearance.
• Experience modeling in Cameo Systems Modeler (or equivalent) using SysML, and experience using Teamwork Cloud.
• Experience in risk management and one or more specialty disciplines: reliability engineering, availability/maintainability analysis, radiation effects analysis, or cybersecurity.
• Experience deriving requirements for complex electrical, mechanical, optical, and software systems.
• Familiarity with technical data management, report writing and support tasks.
• Demonstrated ability in change management, process improvement, project planning, and stakeholder management.
• Ability to demonstrate a commitment to personal and corporate excellence

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to identify, measure, and monitor potential threats to assets and operations.
• Develop and enforce risk management policies, frameworks, and internal controls.
• Design and implement actionable risk mitigation plans with cross-functional teams.
• Prepare regular risk reports for executive leadership and governance.
• Conduct reliability and availability analyses (RAM, FMEA/FTA) for space systems.
• Support radiation effects analysis and cybersecurity risk assessments.
• Monitor and report specialty performance metrics to leadership and stakeholders.
• Collaborate with program management, design engineering, and logistics to integrate findings into baselines.
