Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking aStaff Electrical Engineer to lead the design, development, integration, test, and flight qualification of advanced spaceborne payloads. The Unit Lead will own both technical definition and execution for an RPU product, coordinating a multidisciplinary team and interfacing with customers and program managers.

The role requires strong leadership, Systems Engineering discipline, and hands-on experience with software-defined radios and RF hardware.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8 years of engineering experience in electronics hardware development.
• Hands-on experience with SDRs and related technologies.
• Leadership experience mentoring multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong systems engineering practices including requirements flowdown and verification.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, prototyping, integration, test and flight readiness for the RPU box.
• Coordinate a multidisciplinary team of RF, digital, power, mechanical, thermal, software, and systems engineers.
• Own schedule accountability and on-time delivery of the box development.
• Manage flight qualification activities including environmental tests and risk assessment.
• Oversee transition to volume production with manufacturability and customer-facing docs.
• Generate and maintain requirements, ICDs, block diagrams, test plans, and verification matrices.
• Interface with spacecraft systems engineering, mission assurance, and vendors.
• Lead root-cause analysis and risk mitigation; communicate status to leadership and customers.
