Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer to lead the design, development, integration, test, and flight qualification of advanced spaceborne payloads. The Unit Lead partners with RF, digital, power, mechanical, thermal, software, and systems engineers to drive architecture and schedule across the full lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years in electronics hardware development.
• Leadership experience mentoring multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong systems engineering, requirements flowdown, and verification.
• Excellent communication with diverse stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the RPU Unit Lead and primary technical point of contact for the box.
• Lead end-to-end engineering: architecture, design, prototyping, integration, test, and flight readiness.
• Coordinate RF, digital, power, mechanical, thermal, software, and systems engineers.
• Own schedule accountability and ensure timely technical execution.
• Develop payload interfaces, data handling, firmware and software integration.
• Oversee flight qualification activities and environmental tests.
• Transition to volume production with manufacturability and documentation.
• Generate box-level docs: requirements, ICDs, diagrams, test plans, risk registers.
• Interface with spacecraft systems, manufacturing, vendors, and test facilities.
• Drive root-cause analysis and risk mitigation; communicate status to leadership and customers.
