Job summary

CesiumAstro is seeking a highly skilled Senior Staff Electrical Engineer to lead design, development, integration, test, and flight qualification of advanced spaceborne payloads. The Unit Lead will own technical definition and execution for a new Reconfigurable Processing Unit (RPU) product, coordinating multidisciplinary teams and interfacing with customers.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
12 years of engineering experience in electronics hardware development.
Hands‑on experience with software‑defined radios.
Leadership experience mentoring multidisciplinary teams.
Strong knowledge of systems engineering practices and configuration management.
Excellent communication skills for diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

Serve as the RPU Unit Lead and primary technical contact through product lifecycle.
Lead end-to-end engineering for the box: architecture, design, prototyping, integration, test.
Coordinate RF, digital, power, mechanical, thermal, software, and systems engineers.
Own schedule accountability for box development and flight readiness.
Develop and review payload control schemes, interfaces, and firmware/software integration.
Manage flight qualification activities: TVAC, vibration, EMC, radiation considerations.
Guide transition to volume production: manufacturability and customer documentation.
Interface with spacecraft systems engineering, mission assurance, and vendors.
