Job summary

LV8D Solutions LLC is seeking a Space System Payload Engineer to drive the design, integration, testing, and operation of space payload systems. The role spans requirements development, verification and validation, mission integration, and data analysis across government, commercial, and defense programs.

The ideal candidate will have strong systems engineering capabilities, experience with EO/IR sensors or imaging payloads, and proficiency in MATLAB and Python for modeling and analysis.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM or related field.
• 8–12 years of relevant experience in space payload systems.
• Experience with EO/IR sensors, imaging payloads, or scientific instrumentation.
• Understanding of payload lifecycle: requirements, verification, validation, and mission integration.
• Strong communication and leadership skills; able to work in government/contractor teams.
• Domestic travel is available (up to 25%).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support design, integration, testing, and operation of space payload systems.
• Perform payload performance analysis, link budgets, and sensor modeling.
• Contribute to requirements development, verification plans, and ICDs.
• Assist in initialization, calibration, and on-orbit validation activities.
• Attend design reviews and program management reviews; provide technical recommendations.
• Review acquisition milestone documentation for adequacy and risks.
