Job summary

EVONA is seeking a Systems Engineer to drive the architecture, analysis, integration, and testing of advanced optical payloads from concept to flight. The role focuses on defining EO/IR system architectures, performing radiometric analyses, and leading payload integration across multiple engineering disciplines.

You will develop test plans, calibration procedures, and qualification strategies for flight hardware, while coordinating with cross-functional teams to support system-level design

Qualifications

• Experience developing complex systems from concept through test and delivery.
• Strong background in EO/IR payloads, optical systems, or space sensors.
• Hands-on experience with optical test equipment, calibration and laboratory environments.
• Proficiency with MATLAB, Python or similar analytical tools.
• Experience writing technical documentation, procedures and interface control documents.
• Eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance.

• Perform radiometric performance modelling and validate results through laboratory and field testing
• Lead payload integration across electrical, mechanical, thermal, optical and software interfaces
• Develop test plans, calibration procedures and qualification strategies for flight hardware

What we’re looking for

• BS or higher in Engineering or a related scientific discipline
• Experience developing complex systems from concept through test and delivery
• Strong background in EO/IR payloads, optical systems, or space sensors
• Hands-on experience with optical test equipment, calibration and laboratory environments
• Proficiency with MATLAB, Python or similar analytical tools
• Experience writing technical documentation, procedures and interface control documents
• Eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance

Nice to have

• Experience with MODTRAN, SPIRITS, AFSIM, Zemax or Code V
• Knowledge of laser systems, LiDAR, radar or embedded signal processing
• Experience with optical modelling, radiometry and advanced payload performance analysis
