Job summary

Northwood is seeking a first Cost Accountant to build and own the cost accounting function as we scale our space infrastructure products from development into production.

You will establish processes for inventory, COGS, and manufacturing costs while supporting the day-to-day cost accounting activities. Collaborating with Finance, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, and Engineering, you will create scalable costing and reporting foundations for rapid growth.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance with 4+ years in cost or manufacturing accounting.
• Strong understanding of standard costing, WIP, COGS, PPV, and variances.
• Independent ownership of month-end close and reconciliations; analytical mindset.

Responsibilities

• Build and own cost accounting function with scalable processes and reporting.
• Manage month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, variances, and schedules.
• Develop standard costing for purchased and manufactured hardware; analyze variances.
• Own inventory valuation across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering to translate activity into costs.
• Serve as Finance owner for cost accounting systems and ERP improvements.
