Job summary

Northwood Space, a modern space infrastructure company in Torrance, CA, is hiring its first Cost Accountant to build and own the cost accounting function as we scale our hardware production.

You will establish processes for inventory, standard costs, WIP, COGS, and manufacturing variances, partner with Finance, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Program teams, and drive continuous improvement of cost visibility across the ERP landscape.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; 4+ years in cost/inventory/manufacturing accounting.
• Strong understanding of standard costing, inventory valuation, WIP, COGS, PPV, variances and ERP flows.
• Ability to own cost accounting close activities, journal entries, reconciliations, and complex analyses.
• Analytical, autonomous in a fast-paced environment with strong Excel and process-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Build and own the cost accounting function with scalable processes and controls.
• Manage month-end and quarter-end close activities, journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and reporting.
• Develop and maintain standard costing methods for purchased and manufactured hardware.
• Own inventory accounting across raw materials, WIP, and finished goods; reconcile with ERP data.
• Translate production costs and BOMs into accurate product costs and insights.
• Drive ERP improvements and automation to support growth.
