Vast Space Llc. in Long Beach, California, is seeking an Engineer II, Life Support Systems to advance environmental and thermal control systems for our Haven Station family.

The role reports to the Director of Life Support Systems and supports design-to-launch activities for human-rated space habitats. The position is full-time and exempt, based in Long Beach with a focus on manufacturability, reliability, and collaboration across avionics, software, and operations teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering or science discipline.
• 2+ years experience with fluid/environmental control systems.
• 3+ years hardware fabrication/assembly/testing.
• Master's degree in engineering (preferred).
• Proactive problem-solving and design of experiments (preferred).
• Experience with rotating machinery and soft goods (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Own the design and development of environmental and thermal control systems.
• Iterate on manufacturing processes and development testing.
• Own the project delivery timeline from design to production, launch, and orbit insertion.
• Perform systems engineering tasks and fluid analyses.
• Lead design reviews with suppliers and customers.
• Coordinate with avionics, software and mission operations teams.
• Ensure designs are manufacturable and reliable.
