Job summary

Vast in Long Beach is seeking an Engineer II, Life Support System to support the design and build of human‑rated space station systems. You will own the environmental and thermal control system development from initial trades through validated hardware, coordinating with avionics, software, and mission operations.

This full‑time exempt role requires a Bachelor's in engineering or science, 2+ years on fluid or environmental control systems, and 3+ years hardware fabrication/testing; a Master’s

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or science.
  • 2+ years experience with fluid or environmental control systems.
  • 3+ years hands-on hardware fabrication, assembly or testing.
  • Master's degree in engineering preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and design-of-experiment capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Own the design and development of environmental and thermal control systems from concept to validated hardware.
  • Iterate on manufacturing processes and development testing in a fast-paced environment.
  • Own the project delivery timeline from design through production, launch, and orbit insertion.
  • Perform systems engineering tasks and fluid analyses.
  • Lead design reviews with suppliers and customers.
  • Ensure integration with avionics, software, and mission operations.
  • Ensure designs are manufacturable and reliable.
  • Bring technical excellence to all work activities.
