Job summary

Blue Origin seeks an experienced mechanical engineer to design and develop ground mechanical systems at our LC-36 launch site in Cape Canaveral, FL. You will lead subsystem design, perform FEA, manage partners, and ensure fabrication, assembly, and testing meet stringent aerospace requirements.

The role requires a Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, 7+ years in large mechanical systems, and US work eligibility. Familiarity with GD&T and heavy-duty mechanism design is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar дисципlines.
• 7+ years of experience in design/analysis/construction of large and complex mechanical systems (e.g., launch vehicle GSE and mechanisms, aerospace tooling, oil & gas mechanical systems).
• Experience leading mechanical designs from concept through commissioning.
• Mechanical design experience using CAD tools.
• Mechanical analysis experience using FEA tools.
• Familiarity with ASME Y14.5 GD&T and tolerance stack‑up analysis.
• Experience in heavy duty mechanism design (locking/clamps, linkage, quick release, alignment, restraint/catch).
• Experience designing and analyzing bolted connections, mechanical interfaces, and load‑bearing joints in precision assemblies.
• Experience analyzing mechanical systems under dynamic loading conditions including vibration, shock, and fatigue.
• U.S. citizen or eligible to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Lead design efforts for assigned subsystems and resolve technical challenges.
• Own mechanical design solutions for large systems and mechanisms.
• Perform and review FEA and hand calculations for complex systems.
• Manage external design and fabrication partners through the project lifecycle, oversee fabrication, assembly, installation, and testing.
