Job summary

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Sr Technical Manager, Space Hardware to lead the hardware development of advanced space-based ISR and remote sensing systems. You will guide a high-performing engineering team from concept through design, build and launch, focusing on opto-mechanical space hardware and precision mechanisms for demanding environments.

The role requires strong mechanical engineering leadership, hands-on problem solving, and the ability to deliver on cost and schedule commitments

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering degree with 12+ years experience, or graduate degree with 10+ years, or 16+ years without a degree.
• Experience in mechanical design for aerospace and defense programs.
• Leadership of engineering teams through design, analysis, test, build and launch.
• Experience guiding thermal or structural modeling and incorporating results into design.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD tools and project management including budget and schedule.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead design of high-precision spaceflight hardware, including opto-mechanical structures and fixtures.
• Provide technical leadership across requirements, concept development, design trades, analysis, and test.
• Mentor engineers, allocate resources, improve processes, and support strategic planning.
• Lead technical reviews, present designs to customers, and coordinate with suppliers and cross-functional teams.
• Support manufacturing with tooling, fixturing, test equipment, and shop aids.
• Contribute to proposals, estimates, schedules, and engineering change activities.
• Manage hiring, employee development, performance, and team engagement.
• Ensure projects meet cost, schedule, and technical performance commitments.
• Position will require travel (less than 10%).
