Job summary

Blue Origin LLC seeks an experienced Power Electronics Engineer (Level 3) to develop advanced power electronic converters for aerospace applications. The role covers requirements capture, conceptual and detailed design, with space-qualified components and control algorithms to meet stringent performance and reliability goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years designing power electronics for aerospace or space applications (DC-DC converters essential).
  • Proficiency in requirements/capture for high-reliability systems.
  • Experience with isolated and non-isolated DC-DC converters.
  • Hands-on component selection for demanding environments.
  • Controller algorithm design and implementation.
  • Proficient in circuit simulation tools (LTspice, PSpice, SIMetrix).
  • Experience with schematic capture and PCB layout (Altium Designer, OrCAD).
  • Experience with Si, GaN and SiC devices.
  • Board bring-up, troubleshooting, and validation.
  • Design for manufacturability and reliability in production environments.

Responsibilities

  • Capture and translate engineering requirements for space power electronics.
  • Perform conceptual design and select power-stage topologies for aerospace environments.
  • Execute detailed design and select space-qualified components.
  • Develop and implement controller algorithms to optimize performance.
  • Conduct feasibility studies with circuit simulations and analyses.
  • Produce schematics and PCB layouts for high-reliability electronics.
  • Lead board bring-up, testing, and production readiness.
  • Iterate designs based on test data and feedback across teams.
