Job summary

AeroVironment, Inc. in the SpaceTech division seeks a Components (EEE) Parts Engineer to select and qualify space-grade electronics. You’ll work with senior authorities to ensure parts survive mission-critical operations and collaborate with design, procurement, and quality teams across the lifecycle.

The role focuses on radiation-hardened electronics, part screening, and documentation, with growth through mentorship and exposure to solar and space environments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • Experience with and exposure to electrical, electronic, and electro-mechanical components.
  • Demonstrated interest in radiation-hardened electronics, material science, or space environments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and qualify components (passives, actives, ICs, high-speed digital, power).
  • Apply MIL-STD, EEE-INST, PEM-INST standards to screening and qualification.
  • Coordinate between design, procurement, and quality to track lifecycle of parts.
  • Monitor End of Life notices and identify suitable replacements to avoid delays.
  • Process GIDEP alerts and Product Change Notices (PCNs).
  • Support counterfeit part detection through inspection and documentation.
  • Document part-specific radiation tolerances for space-based systems.
  • Coordinate component testing, including burn-in, environmental stress screening, and radiation testing.
