Job summary

Renesas Electronics Americas (REA) is seeking an experienced Staff Product Engineer in the Hi-Rel group to guide advanced IC products from development through characterization and production readiness for space and harsh-environment applications.

This role requires strong NPI experience, hands-on lab capability, technical leadership, and a continuous improvement mindset to deliver high-reliability releases.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering; Master’s preferred.
• Experience in semiconductor NPI, test, and production release; high-reliability focus.
• Strong lab skills with oscilloscopes, multimeters, and bench power supplies.

Responsibilities

• Lead product engineering activities for new product development of radiation-hardened ICs for space/harsh environments.
• Serve as cross-functional hub between IC design, radiation effects, applications, test, assembly, reliability, and manufacturing teams.
• Drive milestones across the NPI lifecycle and ensure alignment across technical functions and stakeholders.
• Characterize IC designs to verify electrical specifications and high-reliability requirements.
• Perform hands-on bench testing to support device characterization, validation, debug, and ATE correlation.
• Analyze characterization data and provide technical insights on performance, margin, yield, quality, reliability, and manufacturability.
• Collaborate with test engineering to align bench-to-ATE correlation and test strategy for production readiness.
• Integrate product requirements with package/assembly/reliability considerations for manufacturability.
• Support high-reliability development practices for space-grade/harsh-environment products.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives around NPI execution, ATE readiness, data analysis, and release processes.
• Communicate technical status, risks, results, and recommendations to cross-functional teams and leadership.
